Hyaenid

The hyaenid are a simple, savage race that has no pride or shame.  They collect scrap metal almost obsessively, using weapons they find, bootstrapping armour together if they can, even implementing scavenged bionics when they can.  Any remaining metal they beat into discs which they hang from their hair and tie to their bodies, they hang around their settlements too.  These discs are sometimes painted or decorated with a record of how the metal was obtained.  When marching, the hyaenid love how the discs clang and ring against each other, from afar it sounds like rumbling thunder approaching, and in battle the noise is overwhelming

The discs also serve as simple protection

Perhaps this is in imitation of Nidean armour traditions, as some (such as the knight of anvil) wear these discs on their armour too

The Hyaenid were one of the many legacies of House Abin's experiments into genetics.  Sired by science and nurtured into a successful, if unpredictable, fledgling population they proceeded to carve a small territory of their own, operating in tribalistic societies that follow monarchies based on individual strength.   In their very large clans, they have a matriarchal society with females being larger and dominant.  Males compete with each other to serve the females.  Aggression and minor violence between members is extremely common, but mostly to establish and maintain the dominance heirarchy, and will often be accompanied by a lot of passive aggression and dismissive laughter.  Killing among hyaenid is extremely rare.  Clans are designated by the dominant females.  Females may sometimes try to switch clans and will have to endure a lifetime of being dominated by the females both as they leave a clan and as they enter the new one.  Males can generally move through clans with only a small amount of proving needed.

Technology  Augmentation  Generally only for medical and healing purposes.  Elective augmentation is a hilarious idea to the average Hyaenid.  Weaponry and Armour  Not being particularly skilled craftsmen, they raid and pilfer for much of their weaponry and armour, so their technology varies massively between individuals, usually botched and mismatching.  Males will often gift their loot to females to gain favour.

The Hyaenid, thrust into the world as a young and uneducated race and without any resources of their own, developed a proficiency in raiding coastal settlements to get by.

They have a playful rivalry with their brother Leonid , which the leonine find both insulting and frustrating, but the hyaenid find humorous and in good sport.  Occassional conflict has erupted out of Hyaenid sport.
