Leonid

A bipedal lion race, manufactured by Guihan, one of Princes of Dawn. Their society values structure and discipline, though their feral ancestry sometimes overpowers this.  They are also prone to genetic mutation, and each new generation produces more and more mutants. It is a side effect of the methods used in their creation, and results in many other aspects of animal coming through in their genetics.  Some mutations are minor or not visually noticeable, and are tolerated within society, sometimes held up as glorious blessings from the pantheon.   Those that are deemed too mutated to be acceptable within society are exiled to the forest that surrounds most of the Leonid province.  Of these mutated abominations, some call themselves #praetorians.  The Scientist used to use his.own blood to build his races, but managed to procure some of Nidas dna, from his crypt corpse perhaps, or some possession or other.  The Leonid are birthed of Nidas' blood, so  they are therefore technically GodSpawn, but if any of the other siblings found out they would be outraged.   Leonid society can typically be divided into prides, coalitions, and nomads.  Males are sent out when they come of age, and then range in small groups.  When they have gained enough experience, they may return to their original prides and force out their fathers, or subjugate them, or forcibly take some females from a pride and begin their own.  Females may decide to leave a pride and be nomadic, sometimes meeting nomadic males, instigating the birth of a new pride.  It is very common for leonid to try to intimidate smaller races or other prides into giving up their resources before turning to violence.  Leonid prides often cannot rise above a certain number of individuals as confrontations between members, especially males, hits critical mass.  Of Mettan.

Technology  Leonid characteristically seek the upper hand above others, and so elective augmentation is rampant, especially to increase violence potential.  Similarly, Leonid prize weaponry and much trade and craftsmanship goes into the weapons industry.  Males will intimidate less powerful beings into handing over a weapon or resources they desire.  Much of the Leonid workforce is employed in the purposes of advancing their warfare capability.  Despite these factors, the typical Leonid looks down on wearing armour, preferring to rely on skill with blade and shield, and wearing scars proudly as proof of masculinity.  Ritual Scarification is common amongst young males looking to impress.  They have a rivalry with the Hyaenid which they take a little more seriously than their Canid cousins, thinking the hyaenid savage and beneath them, yet frustratingly capable.
